Senior Maths Week Booklet: Hints and Tips!

Have you been pondering over these brainteasers all week and still can’t figure some of them out. Never fear. Firstly, well done on thinking mathematically. Many important discoveries are made by trying things out, making mistakes and trying again. Secondly, even the teachers found themselves scratching their brains trying to work out the more challenging teasers. Finally, help is always at hand so here are some hints and tips that may assist you in your quest.

MONDAY: Say what you see!

TUESDAY: A square is a 2-D shape with four equal sides!

WEDNESDAY: How many different types of socks are there in the drawer? Then add one more. You’re bound to make a match!

THURSDAY: Start with the column of grapes and divide by 4! Now you are on your way!

FRIDAY: This got us all thinking! Sometimes you have to add more troops to win the battle. At other times, the best strategy is to divide and conquer.

Best of luck and thank you for taking part in Maths Week in Drom National School. We hope you enjoyed it!
