Our school is due to receive an Irish flag from the Defence Forces on Monday, 28th September 2015. We invite parents and members of our community to join us for this event.
The format for the visit is as follows
a. Arrival of the Defence Forces team at the school: welcome and introductory remarks.
b. The 1916 Proclamation in context.
c. Reading of the Proclamation, with a nominated pupil (or pupils) reading a pre-selected extract.
d. The National Flag – Q&A for the students on our Flag.
e. Flag Protocols – how we should care for our National Flag
f. Presentation of the Flag to an appointed person (a pupil, representative from the school or Principal).
Please arrive to the parent / visitor entrance before 9.25am to ensure that the presentation can start promptly.
The ceremony will take approximately 30 minutes.
